Senator Musiliu Obanikoro reacts to Saharareporters allegation that he is hiding from Nigerian Investigators Abroad

Former Minsiter of State for Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro just reacted to a media allegation leveled against him by Saharareporters which he said he will purse to a logical conclusion. He took to his facebook page to share his concerns.

RE: Ex-Minister Obanikoro now hiding from Nigerian Investigators Abroad... Sahara Reporters

Ordinarily, I wouldn't dignify SaharaReporters with a response to the baseless and shameful journalism it practices, but there is a limit even to new media madness.

Dragging my children into your deliberate campaign and onslaught against my person, however will not be ignored and I demand you cease and refrain from this practice and limit your scope to me only.

For the record, I have been in public service since 1992, and I have never owned or currently own a home anywhere in the world outside Nigeria, however I am proud of my son and his family who are private citizens for their accomplishment as they have the right to do so.

I still have a case against @SaharaReporters and its owner filed at their “Hide Out” in the State of New York, and this will certainly add to the body of evidence against this hack-journalism platform.

Perhaps this is in retaliation to the suit, but be rest assured, I won’t be deterred and will pursue this to a logical conclusion.

While I remain open to answering any question on my conduct as a public servant in any administration at state and federal levels in Nigeria, I urge responsible practitioners of Journalism to refrain from helping hack journalists bring their profession into disrepute with baseless rumours and the blind crusade of an already biased and bought media platform.

My aspirations now therefore are to seek further education as I am doing in pursuit of a degree in History at the Oglethorpe University based in Georgia USA and to Mentor the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.

Femi Fani-Kayode writes Open Letter to President Buhari

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI BY FEMI FANI-KAYODE

Mr. President, as one of your most loyal and faithful subjects who has nothing but the utmost respect for your person and your office I am constrained to write you this open letter.

This is because there are a number of issues that I believe that it is important for you to clarify and to come clean on. I say this because some of your assertions of late are at best contradictory and at worst patently dishonest.

Whichever side of the political divide we are on I believe that we can all agree on one thing: that the prosecution of the war against terror is not something that any of us should play politics with.

This is especially so given the fact that human lives are at stake and the very existence of our nation is under threat. Like much of the rest of the world our country is going through hell at the hands of the jihadists and Islamist terrorists.

There is no gainsaying that we must all come to terms with the fact that the Islamic State in the Levant (ISIL), Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Al Shabab, Boko Haram, Hamas and another group that the internationally-respected Global Terror Index has described as the ''Fulani militants'' (aka Fulani herdsmen) are nothing but bloodthirsty murderers and the lowest form of life.

They are indeed the scum of the earth, the troublers of humanity and the vermin of hell. It is with this in mind that I urge you to take the war against terror far more seriously than you are doing and plead with you to stop passing the buck.

Your penchant for blaming your failings in this regard on the previous administration is simply nauseating and it does not serve you well.

You continuously contradict yourself when it comes to this matter and frankly such flip flops are unworthy of the office that you presently occupy.

We your subjects look up to you for consistency, strength, unequivocal commitment, a firm resolve and the ''leadership from the front'' that you promised during your presidential campaign in this war. We do not want and neither do we need doublespeak, lame excuses and buck passing.

Permit me to point out a few examples of your contradictory assertions and your buck passing in this short intervention. Initially you claimed that your predecessor in office President Goodluck Jonathan never bought any arms and that instead he squandered and stole all the money that was appropriated for the procurement of arms.

Yet when the British Minister of Defense visited you in the Presidential Villa the other day the story changed. You did a U-turn and gleefully told him and the wider world that President Jonathan bought arms with raw cash.

One wonders which story you shall come up with next and which one you will conjure up in the future. Kindly tell us what the position is: is it that Jonathan did not buy arms at all and stole all the money or is it that he used cash to buy arms? You cannot have it both ways. It is either one or the other.

Quite apart from your glaring doublespeak on this matter there was another issue which you ought to have raised with your highly esteemed and respected British guest.

You forgot to tell him that his was one of the countries that not only refused to sell weapons to us during the course of this bitter conflict but that also helped to impose and enforce the international arms embargo on our country even though we are at war.

This resulted in the unnecessary death of thousands of our people because we found it difficult to procure the weapons to protect them.

Your guest’s country insisted on towing the American line and doing this to us even though we were fighting a war against a relentless, well-motivated, well-funded and well-armed fighting force that Global Terror Index has described as the ''deadliest terrorist organization in the world''. One is forced to ask: with friends like this who needs enemies?

Given the fact that the embargo was in place one wonders how we were supposed to procure arms unless we did so with raw cash on the black market.

The alternative was to buy none at all, to do nothing and to allow Boko Haram to take Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Lagos. Perhaps that is precisely what your western friends and allies wanted but thankfully it never came to pass.

Despite the challenges and constraints President Jonathan faced, instead of losing any more ground, he rose to the occasion and retook no less than 22 local government areas and virtually pushed Boko Haram out of Nigeria. The only place that they occupied by the time the election took place was Sambisa forest.

Jonathan achieved all this with those arms that he bought with raw cash. This is apparently what you are now complaining about. Permit me to remind you that it is those same arms that Jonathan bought with raw cash that your army is still using till today.

Yet sadly since you were sworn in as President seven months ago you have lost some of those same local government areas that were earlier recovered and they are now back in the hands of the terrorists.

Despite this you keep telling the international community and the Nigerian people that we are ''making progress'' in the war against terror.

As a matter of fact you went as far as to say that we had ''won the war'' against Boko Haram and your Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, echoed that grotesque mendacity and reiterated that sentiment by adding the words ''technically won'' (whatever that may mean) to the equation.

Sadly, two days later, on Christmas day, in what can only be described as an eloquent response from the terrorists, scores of innocent civilians were killed by Boko Haram in Borno state and a whole community was burnt to the ground.

Again on Sunday 27th of December Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, came under heavy attack from the terrorists. So much for having ''won the war against Boko Haram'', whether ''technically'' or otherwise.

Instead of conceding that you had told the Nigerian people a pernicious lie, curiously the next thing that you did was to tell them that you would ''persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms''. One is compelled to ask: why would you have to persuade them to drop their arms if you had already defeated them and won the war against them?

In any case this would be the first time in the history of modern warfare that a sitting President has sought to destroy and defeat a vicious and relentless terrorist organization and win the war against terror simply with the awesome and devastating weapon of persuasion.

Perhaps you should recommend that same tactic to the Americans and the rest of the international community as an effective and credible weapon to adopt in their war against ISIL, Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Hamas and all the other jihadist groups that plague the world.

Whilst you are at it perhaps you could also persuade Boko Haram to free the Chibok girls. It is disturbing to note that despite all your campaign promises and assurances that once you are elected President the girls would be rescued or returned, nothing has been done or heard about any of them ever since you were sworn in.

Worst still the Bring Back Our Girls Group, which was essentially an appendage of your election organization, together with its distinguished leaders and conveners, appear to have gone very quiet. I guess they are busy trying to persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms too.

The truth is that it is time for you to free yourself from your monumental delusions and to get real. Sadly you appear to be detached from reality.

Instead of fighting the war against terror you are making it worse by slaughtering one thousand Shia Muslims in Zaria on December 12th, locking up their leader Sheik Ibrahim El Zakzaky and opening yet another war front in our country.

The last thing that we need is for Hezbollah or the Iranian Republican Guard to rise to the occasion, take up the challenge, jump into the fray and decide to protect and avenge their Shia Muslim brothers and sisters in northern Nigeria.

Yet despite the reprehensible and indefensible actions of your military commanders in Zaria you have refused to show any remorse for what was undoubtedly a war crime against fellow Nigerians and you have not prosecuted the officers and military personnel that were involved in the butchery.

Instead the homes of the victims and those that share their Shia faith have been burnt to the ground in Zaria and their graves and burial sites have been dug up and desecrated.

Instead of fighting Boko Haram you are fighting and killing your own people. Worse still you have refused to defend our country. I say this because a few days ago the Cameroonian military invaded our country, violated our territorial integrity and savagely murdered over 70 innocent Nigerians in their village before burning it down.

Your government refused to acknowledge that this event even took place, despite the media reports. You did not console or express condolences to the families of the victims or retaliate against the Cameroonians.

You did not even warn them or demand an apology or reparations from them. This is heartless and shameful. It could not have happened under Jonathan, Obasanjo, Babangida, Shagari, Abacha, Abubakar, Shonekan, Mohammed, Balewa or indeed any other former Nigerian President or Head of State.

If any of them had been in power and the Cameroonians cultivated the effrontery to do such a thing there would have been consequences.

Yet you did nothing to avenge this affront or to defend our honor. What happened to the gallant and brave General Buhari that courageously led our troops into victory in Chad in the early 1980's?

What happened to the honest and forthright man that we all admired and looked up to because of his military exploits in Chad?

What happened to the war hero that gave the Chadians a ''bloody nose'' for daring to attack a Nigerian village and that almost took Ndjamena, the Chadian capital?

What happened to the man that proved to the Libyans and their Chadian proxies that Nigerians knew how to fight? It appears that you have changed and that you are no longer the man that you used to be.

Instead of being honest with our people you have insisted on selling them a dummy and telling them a lie. You refuse to tell the world that our military is terribly demoralized, our soldiers are suffering heavy casualties and are not being paid their salaries regularly and, worse of all, that you have failed to procure a single bullet or weapon for them to use in the last seven months since you came to power.

Instead of deploying all the power of the state against Boko Haram you have spent all your energy and resources trying to teach the former National Security Advisor, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, and all your other perceived enemies the lesson of their lives by misrepresenting them before the world, subjecting them to state-sponsored tyranny and the most insidious form of persecution, violating their human rights and lying to the world that they stole and shared money that was meant for the purchase of arms.

You have also misled and misinformed the Nigerian people about the rules and conventions that are applied when it comes to the administration of security funds and about the fact that it is the National Assembly alone that has the right to probe the use of such funds as part of their oversight functions.

To cap it all you have claimed you did not receive any benefit from the NSA 's office whilst Jonathan was in power. This is an assertion which we all know is, at best, questionable.

You must be mindful of the fact that God hates liars and He despises those that abuse power. You must remember that the more you scorn God's counsel and mock His admonitions the more your errors will be made manifest and the more your people will suffer.

You must understand that any leader or government that is motivated by bitterness, fear, hate, vengeance and malice will eventually hit the rocks and crash like a pack of cards. You must appreciate the fact that God is watching and that He sees and knows all.

May the Lord have mercy on you and may He forgive you for your many sins and wicked ways. God bless Nigeria.

Fayose urges Nigerians to pray for Buhari, Says; Lai Mohammed should relocate to Borno or Yobe

Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on Nigerians to pray specially for President Mohammadu Buhari; saying; “The President needs God to give him the necessary wisdom to be able to find solution to the country’s economic and security problems.”

The governor also challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed to relocate to Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe and move around there without heavy military security if indeed he was sure that Boko Haram had been defeated.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “only God’s intervention can save Nigeria from the present economic and security problems as it is glaring that the man running the affairs of the country at the federal level does not have any answer to the
problems.”

He said; “Even the Holy Bible said in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God and as it is, Nigerians must assist the President in asking for wisdom and understanding to tackle the country’s economic and security problems before Nigeria is further plunged into more woes with the federal government’s decision to
borrow N2.2 Trillion, which translates to N6.066 billion per day to finance the 2016 Budget.”

He described the Federal Government’s announced reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre as a continuation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government’s governance by deceit, saying;
“Even secondary school students of economics know that you cannot deregulate and regulate at the same time.”

The governor said; “it is only in a confused and clueless economy that government will plan to spend more when revenue has reduced by more than 50 percent.”

Governor Fayose, who maintained that petrol will not sell below N100 per litre in 2016, added that; “Even now that the price is N87 and subsidy is yet to be removed, Nigerians are buying at between N130 and N300 per litre. What will now happen when they remove subsidy and allow market forces to determine the price?”

The governor described claimed by the Information Minister that Boko Haram insurgents had been defeated as strange, saying; “Nigerians will only take the minister serious if he relocates to either Sambisa in
Borno State or Yobe State and stay there till the end of March, next year without heavy military security.”

He said; “To show their level of confusion, two days after the Minister of Information declared that Boko Haram had been defeated,President Buhari said the government would persuade Boko Haram to abandon their fight. One then wonders how the same Boko Haram insurgents Lai Mohammed said were already defeated will have to be
persuaded to abandon their fight.

“Interestingly, the same Boko Haram that Lai Mohammed said had been defeated reported attacked Kimba village in Gur ward of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday night.

“Therefore, the Information Minister must show Nigerians how peaceful Borno and Yobe States have become after the defeat of Boko Haram by relocating to either Sambisa, Maiduguri or Yobe.”

Doyin Okupe rise in defense for Femi Adesina over Christmas day Tweet

Mr.Doyin Okupe a former Presidential spokesperson to Former President Goodluck Jonathan stood up today in defence for Mr.Femi Adesina who is currently the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Nigerian President Gen Buhari, over his ‘Wailing Wailers’ Christmas day Message on Twitter.
Doyin spoke  out stating clearly that he is not a supporter of this government but that he saw nothing wrong on the tweet by Mr.Femi Adesina who was criticized by his followers on twitter over his tweet.Read his support statement below.

I am not an apologist of this administration neither am I a supporter.
The post by femi adesina this morning is totally harmless and does not deserve the vitriolic attack or condemnation that it seems to be getting.
I have not spoken to Demi but I know he included 'including the wailing wailers' just as a form of anectedote that is not unusual with Writers.
Many people on the social media network are too intemperate and over sensitive.
They look out for faults and loopholes to bring down people in public offices. They also set up unrealistic and sometimes practically impossible moral grounds which they themselves cannot keep for public officers.
I know for a fact that people like me are supposed to be the 'wailing wailers' and we are not angry neither do we feel insulted by this otherwise humorous Xmas greetings.
On behalf of the wailers we salute femi and thank him for this inconclusive Xmas felicitation.

Senate President Bukola Saraki urges Nigerians to emulate peace this Christmas season

Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has sent his Christmas message to Nigerians wishing them well this yelutide period and urges them to ensure their actions bring peace and unity to our great country Nigeria.Read his message below.
"Merry Christmas! I urge every Nigerian to ensure that their actions are predicated on peace, love and unity which are the virtues needed to rebuild our country.

The economic challenges facing the nation as a result of dwindling revenue inflow into the Federation Account is a passing phase which will surely give way to a better future.

I urge Nigerians to renew their faith in God and remain dedicated to the course of national development in the true spirit of Christmas which epitomizes love, perseverance, patience, brotherly kindness and the spirit of sharing.

This is another season of love, season of liberation, sacrifice and giving to the needy. The commemoration of the birth of Christ and the whole essence of His life shows the reality of God's love to mankind.

Let us reflect on the message of Christmas by living peacefully and harmoniously which is one of the cardinal tenets of both Christianity and Islam. Irrespective of our religious beliefs, we should open our hearts with love and prayers for the unity and progress of this great nation,

I urge Nigerians, most especially motorists, traveling during this yuletide period to be cautious and drive carefully on the highways, it is my prayer that you all have a memorable and colorful Christmas."

Minister of Youths and Sports Solomon Dalung responds to Senator Ben Bruce criticism

"Its not a blame game but exposing corruption".This was Solomon Dalung's response to the criticism by Senator Ben Bruce to the Government of President Buhari with regards to the declining economic situation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"Ben Bruce said Obama inherited the worse economy in the USA but he didn't blame his predecessors....

MY QUESTION:
- Did Obama's predecessors loot public wealth???
-Did Obama fix the American economy in six month???

For the Nigerians who are supporting Ben Bruce's statement. It's either you people are Hypocrites or you just have short memories.
Just a few months ago, many of you were busy supporting former president GEJ when he was blaming everybody for his failure. He blamed the northern governors, blamed international communities, blamed the APC, Blamed people of other regions, he even went as far as blaming his advisers when he said they were mis-advising him. He also publicly blamed Lamido Sanusi when he blew the whistle about the missing $20b. He blamed Borno state governor for the Chibok Girls, He even blamed Buhari for Jailing Jim Nwobodo, claiming that Jim Nwobodo stole small money and Buhari jailed him..... I still remember that comments he made in Lagos during his campaign when he said the past administration didn't equip our soldiers, he even said "Go and Ask them, Go and Ask them" he did the blame game for six years without solving any of our problem and his supporters kept telling us he didn't cause Nigerians problem so he should not be the one to fix Nigeria......

Suddenly they are now telling us that we should not blame him for our present predicaments.....

Is he not the one that supervised the squandering of our common wealth? If he had used the monies we made in his administration to develop this country, will we be in this quagmire today? I don't deceive myself... GEJ messed up this country and I will not hesitate to say it when necessary. He can't control his actions and also want to control the consequences of his actions. His mismanagement of our wealth is his actions, the blames he is getting are the consequences of his actions. Infact if we were a serious country, he should have been invited for questioning by now..... he can't squander our common wealth and people will tell me not to blame him for that..... I am not a slave and I don't deceive myself... I have a mind of my own and I can't play to the gallery. I say things the way they are..... I hate to play the blame game, but truth be told, GEJ messed up our country and he deserves the blame he is getting...... QED!!!!"

PDP begs Nigerians Not To Abuse President Buhari as they wish Nigerians merry Christmas

December 24, 2015

Press Statement from PDP.

PDP Urges Special Prayers On Eid-El-Maulud, Christmas….Charges Nigerians Not To Abuse Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges Nigerians to use this year’s Eid-El-Maulud and Christmas to offer special prayers for the unity and stability of the nation as well as recommit their individual and collective security and economic welfare into the hands of God.

The PDP said the special prayers have become essential as the nation is now, more than ever before in dire need of divine intervention, especially as citizens cope with the sudden hardship occasioned by poor management of the nation’s economy in the last seven months.

The party, in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Thursday said the two important celebrations, coming at this trying time, offers the citizens an opportunity to put aside every political, religious and ethnic differences and unite against their prevailing common challenges.

“Nigerians across board have in the last few weeks been recalling the campaign promises made by President Buhari and the APC, particularly, their December 24, 2014 Christmas message wherein they promised several reforms and welfare programmes that will, in their own words, ‘begin to positively impact on the citizenry within its (APC) first few months at the helm, to such an extent that Nigerians will have a better Christmas celebration in 2015’.

“Whilst we understand the indignation, frustration and disappointments occasioned by the long list of unfulfilled promises and dashed expectations under the current regime (and justifiably so), we urge that Nigerians should not recourse to hauling insults on the President as such would not bring the succor they seek.

“The challenges we face today as a nation should not make us lose our dignity and demureness as a people. They should not make us miss the essence and meanings of Eid-El-Maulud and Christmas and the divine succor they bring, especially the assurance that there is always an end to every negative situation.

“The PDP therefore calls on all Nigerians to use the occasions to reflect on those things that bind us together as a nation; show love to one another and commit the nation into Gods’ hands, even as we charge the political class to be conscious of divine accountability in all their dealings

“On this note, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, on behalf of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), wishes all Nigerians joyful Eid-El-Maulud and Christmas celebrations.

Signed:

Chief Olisa Metuh

President Buhari's wishes Nigerias a Merry Christmas Celebration

Enjoy President Buhari's 2015 Christmas Message to Nigerians.

I felicitate with all Nigerians, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, on the joyous occasion of this year’s Christmas. On this occasion of the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, let us all rededicate ourselves to the virtues of peace, love, honesty, justice, equity, piety, humility and service to others which he taught.

There can be no doubt that a greater manifestation of these virtues and ideals in our lives will immensely help us to become a more united, peaceful, secure and progressive nation.Let us also reach out in love and compassion to fellow Nigerians who are in distress at this period of our nation’s history.I particularly urge you all to remember victims of terrorism and insurgency in the country, especially Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The Federal Government will continue to collaborate with state governments and other stakeholders to ease the harsh conditions in IDP camps, while the ultimate objective remains to quickly put an end to insurgency and return the IDPs to their homes.

We must never again allow any group to hold the nation to ransom under whatever guise.Let us also not allow current socio-economic and security challenges to dampen our expectations for a better Nigeria. This administration has taken a number of measures to restore hope to our people. The 2016 Budget defines our commitment to giving Nigeria a new lease of life.

Our change slogan is not a campaign gimmick but a promise that must be kept. We are determined to bring about tangible changes in the lives of our people. In this regard, efforts will be intensified to recover stolen funds, block revenue leakages and enthrone due process, transparency and accountability.

Public office is a public trust that must be held to the highest ethical standards.

I wish all Nigerians a Merry Christmas.

Please drive carefully.

From those who have lost their jobs, to those young people who have never had a job, to the people in the North East whose families and businesses were destroyed by insurgents, this has been a difficult period in our nation’s history, lessons that we must not forget or ignore, as we plan for the future.

"I am the best manager they can work with"Jose Mourinho tells Chelsea players.

This statement "I am the best manager they can work with" is credited to sacked Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho. He made the statement during an interview while he appeared at "The Clare Balding Show", filmed on December 2.This was days before he was shown the back door, Mourinho said:
'I think they need to like to work with me. I think they need to understand that I am the best manager they can work with, I think that is very, very important.

'Like me, don't like me, the person, the man, big friends, that's a supplement but I think it's fundamental that the manager is somebody the players can look at and know that he's good.

'I always establish the impossible target and I tell them this is the impossible target but the target is to win every match.

'They know that is impossible and this season is proving that it is really impossible.

'But I think it's the target, you have to go to every match, it doesn't matter which competition it is, and you want to win and you feel that you can win. I think that's the important thing.'

'I give everything I have, sometimes maybe too much, sometimes maybe too emotional but I do that with every club so for me I did that with everyone but the only one where I wear the shirt twice was Chelsea because I was in the club where I was, I left and I came back so I would say Chelsea,' he said.

'But I have also to confess that Inter (Milan) was really special, and Porto was my beginning and I can't forget that. And a giant like Real Madrid is also an honour to manage.'

This office indeed finds it curious and diversionary that Chief Metuh’s public outcry against the federal government on threats to his life is now being replied by the EFCC with allegation of transferring money to party members.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos Approves Construction of Flyover Bridge For Ajah, Abule Egba

This is a good news for residents of Ajah and Abule Egba as the Governor of Lagos state has approved the construction of Flyover bridges in these areas to ease the traffic situations suffered by the residents. The Governor shared this good news through his Akinwunmi Ambode news and events news portal.

The Lagos State Government has approved the construction of flyover bridges for two of the State’s high-density traffic zones – Ajah round about and Abule Egba junction.

The two major projects were approved by the State’s Executive Council and have been duly awarded to contractors for a speedy commencement of work.

In a press release issued on Sunday by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the projects will be completed within 16 months as part of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s ongoing road infrastructure projects across the state.

The statement said the construction of the reinforced concrete flyover and signalized intersection at Ajah roundabout will be undertaken simultaneously with the rehabilitation of Freedom Road in Lekki, with a view to reducing the heavy traffic being recorded at the Ajah round-about and the Lekki-Ikoyi axis.

Ayorinde said the Ajah flyover bridge will have a solar-powered signalized intersection in order to greatly improve traffic, while the upgrade of Freedom Road is expected to ease traffic considerably for vehicles using the Third Roundabout to connect Lekki through Admiralty way.

While the Ajah project will ease movement of residents and commuters on the Lagos Island – Ibeju Lekki areas, the construction of the reinforced concrete dual-carriage flyover bridge at Abule Egba junction will equally bring joy and relief to millions of commuters that use the Lagos -Abeokuta Expressway in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of the State on a daily basis when completed.

Like the Ajah project, Ayorinde said the Abule Egba flyover bridge will also have signalised intersection under it to service Oko-Oba and other link roads within the axis.

To underscore its commitment to road infrastructure development that seeks to touch every area of the State that may have been inadvertently left behind, Ayorinde said that the State government has also awarded contracts for the rehabilitation and upgrade of strategic arterial/inner roads in Epe Local Government Area of the State.

While noting that Epe division of the State is currently undergoing rapid industrial and commercial growth arising from the commencement of developmental projects such as oil refinery, air and sea ports as well as citing of various industries within the Lekki Free Trade Zones (LFTZ), the Commissioner said a massive upgrade of strategic roads within the Epe division had become necessary.

According to him, some of the areas to be rehabilitated and upgraded in Epe include Lagos Road, Prof. Agbalajobi Road, Awolowo Road (Marine Police/Oke Oyinbo – Hamarun); as well as network of roads in Oloja Estate, Araga Road and Oke Osho junction –Itokin, among others.

The Commissioner said the newly awarded road contracts are coming on the heels of several other projects being constructed by the Ambode administration through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, some of which are either completed or nearing completion.

He listed areas such as Brown Street in Oshodi, Ago Palace Way in Okota as well as Okota-Century road, Ijegun -Igando Road, Ayobo-Ipaja Road, Okesuna Street, Shomolu and Coker-Aguda Road in Surulere, as among projects at various stages of advance work.

He said as at last weekend, more than 300 roads have been repaired and rehabilitated through the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC)’s ceaseless road maintenance that has left no local government area unattended to.

In line with the government’s zero tolerance for potholes, Ayorinde said another hundred roads have been earmarked for repairs before the new year to underscore Governor Ambode’s top priority to ensure motorable roads and infrastructural development across the State.
