I did not make deal with PDP to become Senate President- Saraki Replies Dele Momodu.

My dear brother Dele, let me thank you most sincerely for your article last weekend, “My Candid Letter to Saraki.” I take everything you said in that article to heart and I must commend you for your candidness indeed and the sincerity of your intentions.
As you said in your article, you are someone I have known more by reputation than by any personal relationship, until recently when we struck up some personal acquaintance based on our shared political interests, especially during the last presidential election. However, I understand why you had to sound so defensive for knowing me at all and had to publicly map the boundaries of our relationship. We have got to that point in our country when we no longer believe that anyone could stand for anything based on principles and convictions alone. Moreover, in the growing culture of media crucifixion and presumed guilt; it is rare to find a voice like yours that calls for fairness and justice.

I would have simply sent you a text message or call you up for your candid advice to me, which I take seriously. But I feel the need to make some clarifications on some of the issues you raised. One of them was that in seeking to be Senate President, I struck a deal with the PDP and made it possible for one of them to be the Deputy Senate President. I know this is the dominant narrative out there, but it is far from the truth.

I did not do any deal with the PDP. I did not have to because even before the PDP Senators as a group took the decision to support my candidature on the eve of the inauguration of the 8th Senate, 22 PDP Senators had already written a letter supporting me. What I did not envisage was a situation where some members of my party would not be in the chambers that day, especially when the clerk had already received a proclamation from the President authorizing the inauguration of the Senate. Pray, if a team refused to turn up for a scheduled match and was consequently walked over, would it be fair to blame the team that turned up and claimed victory? I believe those that made it possible for PDP to claim the DSP position were those who decided to hold a meeting with APC senators elsewhere at the time they ought to be in the chambers. What the PDP Senators did was to take advantage of their numerical strength at the material time. They simply lined up behind Senator Ike Ikweremadu while those of us from APC voted for Senator Ali Ndume. It was a game of numbers, and we were hopelessly outnumbered. If the PDP had nominated their own candidate for the Senate Presidency position that day, they would have won. It was as simple as that.

Secondly, I don’t know if you were aware that in the build up to Senate inauguration, the National Working Committee of the APC sent two signals. The first signal specified how leadership positions in the National Assembly have been zoned. While we were trying to give effect to this decision, the second signal came, which contained names of people to which these zoned position had been allocated. What was not acknowledged was that the President of the Senate is not an executive president. He is primarily one of 109 senators. Therefore, I cannot decide by myself who gets what in the Senate. Therefore, when they said I defied party directive in the choice of principal officers, they are invariably ascribing to me the power that I did not have.

My dear brother, most people talk about the Senate Presidency position, but this was not my only offence. I have also been accused of helping to frustrate some people’s opportunity to emerge as President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate. But I have no problem with anybody. My concern was that it would not be politically smart of us to run with a Muslim-Muslim ticket. I doubt if we would have won the election if we had done this, especially after the PDP had successfully framed us a Muslim party. I felt we were no longer in 1993. Perhaps, more than ever before, Nigerians are more sensitive to issues of religious balancing. This, my brother, was my original sin. What they say to themselves, among other things, was that if he could conspire against our ambition, then he must not realize his own ambition as well. For me however, I have no regrets about this. I only stood for what I believed was in the best interest of the party and in the best interest of Nigeria.

Now to the substantive issue of my trial. As you rightly noted, this trial is not about corruption. And I am happy that since my trial started, people who have followed the proceedings have now understood better what the whole thing is about. I have had opportunity to declare my assets four times since 2003. Over those years, the Code of Conduct Bureau had examined my claims. There was no time that they raised any issues with me on any item contained in my declarations over those twelve years. This is why you should be surprised that while I am being tried by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the witness and the evidence supplied against me were all from EFCC.

Like you, I have an abiding faith in the judiciary. May God forbid the day that we would give up on our judicial system. However, the onus is not on me to prove that I have confidence in the judiciary; the burden is on my prosecutors to prove to the world that justice is done in my case. If the process of fighting corruption is itself corrupt, then whatever victory is recorded would remain tainted and puerile!

Some people have wondered, why has Saraki been “jumping” from one court to another instead of facing his trial? To those people, I would say that I have only gone to those courts in search of justice. Strange things have happened, and they are still happening. For example, Section 3(d) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act states that the Bureau shall refer any breach or non-compliance to the Tribunal. However, where the person concerned makes a written admission of the breach, no reference to the Tribunal shall be necessary. It was on this basis that the case against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was dismissed in 2011, by this same judge in this same Tribunal on the grounds that he was not given an opportunity to deny or admit to any breach before he was brought before the tribunal. This was the ruling that I relied on in making my case. But what did the judge say? That he had judged in error in 2011 and he had since realized his error and departed from it. My question is whether a Tribunal of first instance has the power to reverse itself. I should expect that everyone would be worried if justice is applied differently to different people. However, in spite of my fears, I remain hopeful. Why? Because the judiciary does not end with this Tribunal.

Do you know the genesis of my real problems with President Goodluck Jonathan? I have had a touchy relationship with him, but the turning point was in September 2011 when I moved a motion on the floor of the Senate that exposed the N2.3 trillion fuel subsidy racket. I remain proud that I was the Senator that blew the lid on the most elaborate corruption scheme ever in this country. But after that I became a marked man. My security was withdrawn. I was invited and re-invited by the EFCC and the Special Fraud Unit. I was even declared wanted at a point. I believe I am still one of the most investigated former governors in this country. I have no doubt that if the Jonathan government was able to find anything against me, they would not have allowed me to go unpunished.

Let me make this point clearly. I do not expect to be shielded from prosecution because of my contribution to APC, if there was genuine basis for such action to be taken against me. But I have every reason to expect not to be persecuted by the party that I contributed so much to build. The New PDP may not have given APC victory in 2015, but it was an important factor in the dynamics that produced that victory. And with all sense of modesty, I was an important factor in the formation of New PDP; in leading that group to the APC; in ensuring our group’s support for the candidate during the primaries and in mobilizing substantial resources for the election. For these, I have not expected any special compensation. Rather, I only expect to be treated like every loyal party member and accorded the right to freely aspire!

Some people have complained that I have been taken Senators with me to my trial. But I did not force them to follow me. The Senators have freely accompanied me to the Tribunal not because they are loyal to me as Abubakar Bukola Saraki, but because they are committed to the principle that produced me as the President of the Senate. The same principle that produced Ike Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President and produced Ali Ndume as Majority Leader. They see all of us in the Senate leadership as manifestation of their jealously guarded right to freely choose their own leaders. Because they know they made us their leaders without any external interference; they are confident that they retain the power to remove us whenever they so wish. They also know what this trial is all about. They believe I am being victimized because they have expressed their right to choose their own leadership. This is why I am not in any way perturbed by my absence in the chambers during this trial. Because I was not imposed on the Senate, I feel confident that the Senate will protect its own choice whether I am present or not. It is never about me. It is about the independence of the legislature. It has always been so since 1999. It is so today and it would be so in 2019, it would be so in 2023, and as long as we practice a democracy that operates on the principle of separation of powers.

My dear brother, let me end by observing that I am not alone in this trial. On trial with me in this process is the entire judicial system. On trial with me are our entire anti-corruption institutions and our avowed commitment to honestly fight corruption. On trial with me is our party’s promise to depart from the ways of the past, a promise that Nigerians voted for. And I dare say, on trial with me is our media; and their ethical commitment to report fairly and objectively. In the end, it is my earnest hope that whatever we do will ultimately ennoble our country.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan sends Goodwill message to the Cities of Antioch and Lathrop

Goodwill message to the Cities of Antioch and Lathrop

I send this message of goodwill to the Nigerian community in the Bay Area of California who have gathered at Open Heavens Community church to celebrate with me as I am honored by the cities of Antioch and Lathrop.

I had planned to be there. Indeed I had concluded travel plans. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control I could not make the trip.

I have always been proud of Nigerians in the diaspora and more so of Nigerians in the US and even more so of the Nigerian diaspora in California.

Some of you may recall that upon my ascension to the office of President on May 6th, 2010, one of my first acts was to open up a Facebook page to personally interact with Nigerians.

In June 2010, a diaspora Nigerian from the Bay Area of California informed me on my Facebook page of an abandoned building belonging to Nigeria in San Francisco and I dispatched our then ambassador to that city to claim the property and renovate it.
Hopefully, the building may again host a consulate as it once did in the 80s.

The point I am trying to make is that I have been communicating with you and I see you as an asset to Nigeria that makes me proud.

Elsewhere, I have mentioned that aside from oil, diaspora Nigerians are the single largest source of capital inflow into Nigeria.

In my last year as President you remitted $21 billion home. Much more than the World Bank, IMF and foreign direct investment.

My people, you are an asset to your fatherland. Because of the importance with which I held you, my administration facilitated direct flights to Nigeria from the US to Nigeria. We ensured no less than three airlines fly direct between Nigeria and the US including one from Houston to Lagos for the benefit of those of you from the West Coast.

We also ensured that Enugu airport was upgraded to an international airport and I recall that a number of diaspora Nigerians from the US boarded the inaugural Ethiopian airlines flight that landed there in August of 2013.

Again let me say that I appreciate the Nigerian community in the Bay Area.

I would also want like to thank Mayor Wade Harper and the council members of the city of Antioch for choosing to honor me for my efforts in promoting democracy. I am indeed humbled by their thoughtfulness in recognizing our modest efforts.

I also wish to express my gratitude to the city of Lathrop and its mayor and council for also deeming it fit to recognize our efforts.

I wish I could be there in person, however, I have asked Reno Omokri to represent and I am with you in spirit.

Thank you and may God bless Nigeria, may God bless California, may He bless the cities of Antioch and Lathrop and my God bless you.

PDP and the burden of Justice& Equity - Doyin Okupe writes

Read an article Doyin Okupe the senior Special assistant to former President,Jonathan (Public affairs)shared on his facebook page with the caption "Pdp and the burden of Justice& Equity" enjoy below,

There is an embarrassing falsehood being propergated by political charlatans from the southwest and some influential collaborators in the top echelon of the Pdp.
The seed of this misrepresentation was sowed by a group of political clowns and court jesters under the leadership of Senator Buruji Kashamu, a political impostor who claims he is the leader of the party and the Yorubas in the Southwest.
On the 21st of April 2016, the cream of the authentic Yoruba leadership in the southwest gathered at the Golden Gates Hotel on kingsway road, ikoyi, under the Chairmanship of Chief olabode George, a retired Air Commodore, Fmr Governor, former Dep. National Chairman of the Pdp and a grandson of the revered, legendary and world acclaimed, distinguished Yoruba Icon and Politician,
Sir Herbert Macaulay.
At that meeting the true sons and daughters of Yoruba land in an unprecedented unity condemned the erstwhile claim by the Yoruba Traitors who went and lied to the PDP chairman, His Excellency Sen Ali Modu Sheriff, that the Yorubas do not want the chairmanship of the pdp.
I want to state categorically here, without any fear of equivocation, that We the Yoruba's from the Southwest, desire and demand the post of the national chairman at the next convention of the party.
The followings are the past chairmen:
Chief Solomon Lar, chief Gemade, chief Audu ogbe, prince Ogbolafor, Dr Nwodo, Alhadji Baraje, dr Haliru Bello(AG), Alhadji Bamangar Tukur, Alhadji Adamu Muazu, prince Secondus(Ag),and Sen Sheriff.
From the above within the last 18years there have been 11 chairmen from 5 geopolitical zones. Only the Yoruba Race from the south west have been precluded from this exalted office.
In the interest of fairness, equity and Justice, it is most compelling that the Yorubas of the Southwest zone must be allowed to contest for this post at this coming National convention.
Any attempt to do anything to the contrary, no matter the reason advanced cannot be acceptable.
Failure for a Yoruba man to emerge as the national chairman can only mean two things.
1. That there is a pervasive and concealed hatred for the southwest in the PDP. OR
2. That the PDP has very little or no regard for Yoruba interest as was envinced by the obvious cheating of the Southwest from the position of the Speakerin 2011, which was never rectified nor compensated for the whole of four years.
The sad implication of the above is that, regrettably, many of us from the southwest may have to reconsider our membership of this great party we have helped to nurture and supported through thick and thing, a party we have loved almost more than our very existence, and the party we have served with all our natural endowment, in victory and defeat.
If there exist any conscience, anywhere in this party, let that conscience speak now and stop the new and alien conscienceless power currently holding sway within the party hierarchy.

Senator Ben Bruce warns FG on the dangers of 2nd phase of states bailout plans

It is on news that the Federal Government is planning the second phase of bailout for the sates that are in critical financial crises. The Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial district warns the government on the dangers involved in going into this second phase of bailout since the states are not generating revenue. He also advised the government to cut their court according to their size.Read what he wrote,

"If FG keeps bailing states and FG is itself taking loans to fund the 2016 budget, what happens to Nigeria when FG can no longer bail out states? We are squandering all cash in sight. For the second time, FG is bailing out states. The states themselves are not generating revenue. The FG itself is broke. Isn't it time we restructure Nigeria? The entire governmental structure of Nigeria is living on debt, from FG, to states, to LGAs. Yet we show no interest in reforming our locust govt structure! Is it until we become a beggar nation that we will cut our coat according to our cloth?"

Nigeria derived no benefit from previous devaluations of the Naira- President Buhari

Press statement from the stat house Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buahri insisted Friday in Abuja that he was yet to be convinced that the vast majority of ordinary Nigerians will derive any tangible benefit from a devaluation of the Naira.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries, President Buhari said that he still held the conviction which motivated his principled resistance to devaluation in his first tenure as Head of State.

"When I was military Head of State, the IMF and the World Bank wanted us devalue the Naira and remove petrol subsidy but I stood my grounds for the good of Nigeria.

"The Naira remained strong against the Dollar and other foreign currencies until I was removed from office in August, 1985 and it was devalued.

"But how many factories were built and how many jobs were created by the devaluation?

"That is why I'm still asking to be convinced today on the benefits of devaluation," President Buhari told the retired Permanent Secretaries led by Otunba Christopher Tugbobo.

President Buhari welcomed the Council's pledge of support for the successful implementation of his administration's Change Agenda, especially in the priority areas of improving security, curbing corruption and revitalizing the national economy.

"I am glad you have rightly identified the key issues we campaigned on.

"We need a dynamic bureaucracy which will not mislead us into taking wrong decisions," the President said.
The Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries was established in 2004 to serve as a platform for retired permanent secretaries to offer constructive advice to government on key policy issues.

Chief Philip Asiodu, the Pioneer Chairman of the Council, said that its members want the present Administration to succeed because Nigeria has already lost many opportunities for progress.

"We are non-partisan. The interest of Nigeria is paramount to us and we are anxious that you should succeed," Chief Asiodu told the President.

I am Not Contesting For Any Position for PDP National Working Committee - Metuh

April 21, 2016

Press Statement

2016 PDP Convention: ‘I am Not Contesting For Any Position’ - Metuh

As Nigerians are aware, my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is preparing for a National Convention where national officers who will pilot its affairs in the next four years are expected to emerge.

As one of the founding members of this party, the longest serving member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and currently a critical player in the party, my supporters and admirers expect me to contest and this has spurred speculations in the media.

However, I wish to state publicly that I have no ambitions to continue as a member of the National Working Committee after the expiration of my current tenure as the National Publicity Secretary, a decision that is enjoying the support of my family.

I therefore with every sense of responsibility confirm to all members of our great party that I will not run for any position whatsoever in the forthcoming National Convention irrespective of which office may be zoned to the south east for that matter.

What is paramount in my mind at this point is to continue to lift the image of our great party during the remaining part of my tenure as the image-maker of the PDP, a position, which by the grace of God, I have been able to dutifully deliver to the best of my ability despite daunting challenges.

Finally, I wish to assure all my associates and supporters that my love and commitment to the party remains unshaken, especially as we work together to build not only a strong and virile party but also a prosperous, united and stable nation.

Signed

Chief Olisa Metuh
National Publicity Secretary

Claudio Ranieri/Jose Mourinho to manage at Old Trafford - in charity game

London, April 20, 2016 (dpa/NAN) Jose Mourinho will soon get to test out life in the manager's seat at Manchester United sooner than many expect.

Mourinho and Leicester City's Claudio Ranieri were announced on Wednesday as the managers for Soccer Aid, a match which raises money for Unicef to be played at Old Trafford on June 5.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho will take charge of the England team while Ranieri will be in charge of the Rest of the World side.

Mourinho has been linked with several jobs since being sacked from a second stint at Chelsea in December.

Speculation is rife that he will replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, while UK media reported on Tuesday that he has been approached by French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

But before he starts any new job, he will lead a team of English celebrities and football legends, with Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce and singer Robbie Williams, co-founder of the event, as assistants.

``I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams,’’ said Mourinho, who guided the Rest of the World team to victory in 2014.

``Sam and I will make a very good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match.

``I hope the organisers can help me now with an English passport.’’

Mourinho turned down the England job in 2007 but could be a candidate again if Roy Hodgson flops at Euro 2016.

Ranieri meanwhile has Leicester on the cusp of an improbable Premier League title.

The Foxes started the season as 5,000-1 shots after escaping relegation last season and now top the table by five points with four games left.

``Soccer Aid is a fantastic event, raising money for an amazing children's charity in Unicef,’’ Ranieri said.

``For Soccer Aid's 10th anniversary, it is a great honour that Robbie Williams has asked me to manage the Rest of the World XI and I'm looking forward to helping them defend their title.’’

Soccer Aid, which is played every two years, has raised 17 million pounds (24 million dollars) for Unicef since the first match in 2006.

Ike Ekweremadu Not our Anti-Corruption Ambassador- EFCC

Press statement from EFCC,

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to some reports in the print and online media, on April 20, 2016 claiming that the anti-graft agency has decorated the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, as “Anti-Corruption Ambassador”.
According to a statement issued to the Press by the Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Uche Anichukwu, the purported decoration, was carried out by the EFCC National Assembly Liaison Officer, one Suleiman Bakari who was quoted to have said: “ On behalf of my acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Mustafa Magu and the entire management and staff of the EFCC, decorate you as an Anti- Corruption Ambassador and formally present this frame, as a token of our appreciation to your person and office, and as a symbol of the institutional partnership between the EFCC and the National Assembly”.

The EFCC totally dissociates itself from the purported action of Bakari as he acted entirely on his own and clearly outside his liaison officer brief as he was never instructed by the Acting Chairman nor mandated by the management and staff of the Commission to decorate Ekweremadu or any officer of the National Assembly as ‘Anti- Corruption Ambassador’.
The Commission views this highly unprofessional and conduct of the officer as yet another manifestation of ‘Corruption Fighting Back.’ This leg of the despicable campaign, which is unfortunately being carried out by a staff of the Commission, had been foreshadowed in recent weeks by other questionable acts.

For instance, all through last week, some courts issued a string of anti-EFCC rulings looking like calculated attempts to derail the anti-corruption war, even as there were indications of the capture of a prominent section of the media by dark forces.
The picture of organized corruption marshaling its evil forces to launch a sustained fight-back becomes clearer, if cognizance is taken of the bewildering insistence of the Senate to carry on with the ill-advised amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Code of Conduct Tribunal Act as well as the inexplicable provisions proposed for amendment of the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Let it be underscored that the statutory mandate of the EFCC is the investigation and prosecution of all economic and financial crimes cases, which does not include phoney decoration of any individual as “Anti-corruption Ambassador”. That award and title are unknown to the EFCC and could not have been invested as purported, on behalf of the Acting Chairman, Management and staff of the EFCC.

Further, the Commission is not in the habit of awarding titles to individuals. Those who seek titles for reasons of waging a counter-onslaught against the war on corruption in addition to massaging inflated sense of influence know the quarters to approach for such dubious honours. Not the EFCC Members of the public and stakeholders in the fight against corruption are enjoined to disregard the so-called decoration, while stern administrative action is being taken on the clearly misdirected officer who acted entirely without authorization.

False reports of political killings sponsored by misguided politicians- Governor Wike

Press statement from River state Government house, Portharcourt.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the reports of alleged massive insecurity and political killings before the rerun elections were concocted by misguided politicians to mislead Nigerians.

He declared that Rivers State is largely peaceful with increasing internally generated revenue, IGR, that indicate that businesses are thriving and functional.

Speaking when he granted audience to the Members of the House of Representatives Committee on the Army on Monday investigating the military invasion of Ogoni communities , Governor Wike said that after the rerun elections the sponsored propaganda reports no longer dominate the media because there are no political killings in the state.

He said : "Before the rerun elections, you heard of repeated reports of alleged political killings sponsored by misguided politicians. Now that they elections are over, you no longer see such reports.

"Like every other state, we have our security challenges, but we don’t have political killings. We have cases of cult related violence, but the security agencies are tackling the issue frontally with the support of the Rivers State Government ".

He decried the tendency to play politics with security , noting that the security challenges in the state were prompted by the politicisation of the state's security framework.

"We have a secure state where businesses are thriving. That is why our internally generated revenue is growing regularly", he added.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Army, Mr Rimamde Shawulu Kwewum said that the committee was in the state on a fact finding mission following a petition against the army by the Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, on the killings of Ogoni people in their communities.

He said that the committee was not in the state to apportion blame, but to determine what led to the alleged death of 24 persons during the military invasion.

He said : "We are not here to defend any political party. The life of any person is important, irrespective of his political party "

The Federal lawmaker informed the governor that the committee would hold public hearing and also visit the affected communities.

Aluko behind plot to impeach Fayose — Olugbemi

April 17, 2016

Kamarudeen Ogundele

A former factional Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Dele Olugbemi, has alleged that a former Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Mr. Tope Aluko, was behind the failed impeachment plot against Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Olugbemi also maintained that he took Aluko to Fayose to beg him (the governor) for forgiveness for the allegations he (Aluko) made that the June 21, 2014, governorship election was rigged.

Aluko and Fayose had addressed journalists at a hotel in Lagos, announcing their reconciliation. The former PDP scribe had later claimed that the meeting was stage-managed by the governor to mislead the public.

Speaking on Ekiti FM 91.5 Radio on Saturday, Olugbemi, while challenging Aluko, said he was ready to swear in defence of his claim that he took ex-PDP scribe to beg Fayose.

He said, “Once someone has turned himself into a political vulture, parasite, scavenger and an unrepentant traitor, there is nothing he cannot deny just to get a pot of porridge. He is just like a chameleon. He would say yes in the morning, no in the afternoon and a combination of yes and no in the evening.

“When I was the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, TKO (Aluko) was the secretary of our party, PDP. I have never seen a traitor like him in my life. He was the one who initiated and facilitated an arrangement with the APC towards using the House to impeach Fayose. He took me to Osun and Lagos for the arrangement.

“I refused to do that and it strained our relationship. But we resumed our relationship shortly after the end of my tenure as Speaker.

“When I discovered that he was always scheming against the governor and conniving with enemies to impeach him after about one and half year into this government, I decided to call him and advised him against his moves. I told him that in politics there cannot be permanent enemies but permanent interests. I told him defecting to another party would not help; that as for me, I prefer to stay in PDP and demand for what is mine.

“I am so surprised that he could come out to denounce and rubbish with lies, a peace meeting I brokered between him and Governor Fayose. The CCTV camera has the details of all that we discussed with the governor inside the Eko Hotels. Aluko is a morally challenged, socially unfit and academically bankrupt person, As an Ekitiman, I am totally ashamed of him. He has defaced himself, not Ekiti.”

In his reaction to Olugbemi, Aluko, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said he would not dignify the ex-speaker with a response.

He said, “I have no issues with him. Olugbemi is doing the bidding of his master (Fayose) as part of efforts to sustain the propaganda against me. I challenge him to bring proof that I was on the payroll of the APC.

“Instead of addressing the message I passed about his master to the public, they are busy attacking the messenger. Why should I take him to a meeting with APC 19 when I was not in the party? It is all lies.”

Governor Fayose writes President Xi Jinping of China to stop $2 billion loan for Nigeria

The Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has written to the Chinese Government requesting them to stop the proposed loan of $2 billion meant to be released to Nigeria on the request of President Buhari's loan application. He urged the Chinese Government to assist Nigeria in the area of technology transfer rather than granting the country “unnecessary loan”.

The letter read: “I write as one of the major stakeholders in the project Nigeria, and a governor of one of the federating units making up Nigeria, to draw your attention to report that the federal government of Nigeria is on the verge of obtaining a $2 billion loan from the Export-Import Bank of China.

“This $2 billion loan is part of the N1.84 trillion the federal government of Nigeria has proposed to borrow to finance the 2016 budget, which is yet to be signed by the President, Muhammadu Buhari owing to unending controversies between the executive and legislative arms of government.

“According to reports, Nigeria desires to raise about $5 billion abroad to cover part of its 2016 budget deficit. This is projected to hit N3 trillion ($15 billion) due to heavy infrastructure spending at a time when the slump in global oil prices has slashed the country’s export revenues.

“While conceding that all nations, especially developing ones need support to be able to grow because no nation is an island, I am constrained to inform you that if the future of Nigeria must be protected, the country does not need any loan at this time.

“The government of China should be mindful of the fact that Nigerians, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations are totally opposed to increment of the country’s debt burden, which is already being serviced with 25 per cent of the federal government’s annual budget.

“It will interest the government of China to know that some of the projects for which the loan is being sought are not captured in the controversial 2016 budget, which has been sent to the president by the national assembly for his assent. For instance, the Lagos-Calabar Rail project was not included in the budget proposal the president presented to the national assembly and it was not included in the appropriation bill passed by the national assembly.

“Most importantly, Nigeria is presently servicing debt with about 25 per cent of its annual budget and what will happen to the economy in 2017, when the country will begin to service the additional debt to be incurred this year is better imagined than experienced.

“The Chinese government must also be aware that some western nations approached by the federal government for loan diplomatically and cleverly declined.

“This must have been informed by the suspicion in the present government’s capacity to salvage the nation’s economy as well as the sincerity in the fight against corruption. More so that Nigeria’s foreign reserve, which is the only guarantee for foreign loan has declined to a very uncomfortable level.

“In my opinion, Nigeria needs the collaboration of the Government of China in the area of technology transfer, rather than granting loan that will be mismanaged under the guise of building infrastructure.

“It is also important for the Government of China to note that the federal government of Nigeria claimed to have recovered and still recovering trillions of naira allegedly looted from the treasury. For instance, over $200 billion is expected to be recovered from Dubai, the United Arab Emirate while N3 trillion was said to have been saved from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has also said that it will generate not less than N4.5 trillion this year. What then is the rationale behind the $2 billion loan from China?

“As a result of the government’s bad economic policies, the middle class has been eliminated, power supply is at its lowest ebb, petrol is not available and by the time fresh loans begin to pile up, 95 per cent of Nigerians will definitely be pauperised.

“Particularly, by the autocratic nature of our president, the federal government is not prepared to listen to wise counsel, hence the desperation to take unwarranted loans even if the future of Nigeria and its people will be mortgaged.

“I therefore appeal to Your Excellency to assist Nigeria and its people in the area of technology transfer so as to limit importation of goods and services, rather than granting the country unnecessary loan.

“In conclusion, I wish to state  that this letter and information became necessary for posterity sake and to put it on record that when the future of Nigeria and its people was going to be mortgaged through loan from the People’s Republic of China, I stood up to be counted in defence of our country.”

The Outlaws of Islam Article by Femi Fani-Kayode

"In the name of God the Great we shall kill, slaughter and drain the blood of every single unbeliever, every apostate and every traitor that supports them until we establish our new world Caliphate. We will wash our hands with the blood of the infidels"- Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the leader of The Islamic State of Iraq and The Levant (ISIL).

These are the words of a monstrous vampire that desires to swim in an ocean of innocent blood. These are the thoughts and satanic vision of the indisputable leader of the dreaded terrorist movement known as Daesh.

These are the aspirations of a man that rejects the version of Islam that we know, that we respect and that the overwhelming majority of Muslims espouse and practice.

This is a man that represents such a graphic and fundamental perversion and corruption of the faith that he claims to represent and that has become such a terror to humanity that he can hardly be described as a human being at all but rather as a barbarous beast that is not worthy of life.

Simply put Mr. Al Baghdadi is beyond the pale: his level of depravity and capacity for evil is simply incomprehensible. There is no word that can adequately describe his brand of depravity and his insidious level of inhumanity.

So seized of the devil is he that even his brothers in terror like the Taliban and Al Qaeda speak of him in hushed tones.

In his famous play titled 'The Tempest' Shakespeare wrote: "hell is empty. All the devils are here".

The bard was right. All the devils and demons have indeed left hell and they are right here on planet earth.

All across the world they spread their vile message of violence and hate.

They kill Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, moderate Muslims, secularists, atheists, agnostics and all those who do not share their barbaric beliefs and primitive world view.

They take special delight in preying on the weak and the vulnerable, especially the young and the old.

To them the energy and life-force of a pubescent child is like nectar which they take joy in sucking out, absorbing and drinking and sacrificing to their demons.

They unleash bombs, bullets, bloodshed, genocide, mass murder, ethnic cleansing, beheadings, suicide bombers, child soldiers, butchery and carnage everywhere they go and all in the name of their god.

No wonder the Holy Bible says "the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel".

What can one say about those who slit open the throats of others and drain all their blood all in the name of their god?

What can one say about those who put their fellow human beings in iron cages and burns them alive all in the name of their god?

What can one say about those that tie up women in the presence a frenzied crowd and stone them to death all in the name of their god?

What can one say about those that carve out the hearts of their fellow men and eat them raw in front of television cameras all in the name of their god?

What can one say about those that abduct, rape, enslave and murder little girls and justify it all in the name of their god.

These are the people that King Abdullah 11 of Jordan has rightly described as the ‘’outlaws of Islam". They are indeed not just the ‘outlaws of Islam’ but also the troublers of humanity.

They are the seed of the great serpent Lucifer, the Son of the Dawn and the spawn of hell. They are the mortal enemies of all men and women of faith and all believers in the Living God.

They are the adversaries of every true Muslim, every Christian and every Jew on the planet.

Their's is to spread hate, fear, terror, carnage, bloodshed and sorrow. Their's is to steal, kill and destroy. Their's is to do the bidding of Satan and to establish the counsel of the ungodly here on earth.

The jihadists are evil. They are the vermin of the earth.

Like the Jebusites, Midianites, Canaanites and Amalekites of old they deserve to be wiped out: every single one of them. And it is our collective duty to see to it that this is done.

Ours is to offer praises to the Living God, to pray in His name and to sing with joy and pride as we march forth to meet them in the field of spiritual and physical battle.

Ours is to turn ourselves into the Lord's tool of judgment and to strike them down wherever they may be.

Ours is to ensure that the forces of light prevail over the forces of darkness by the power of His word. This is our calling and duty and God Himself wills it.

And if they are still in any doubt about where all this is heading in the Nigerian context they should consider the following.

On December 30th 1964, Mallam Bala Garba told the West African Pilot newspaper that:

"the conquest to the sea is now in sight. When our god-sent Ahmadu Bello said some years ago that our conquest will reach the sea shores of Nigeria, some idiots in the South were doubting its possibilities. Today have we not reached the sea? Lagos is reached. It remains Port-Harcourt. It must be conquered and taken.”

This is an eloquent expression of radical Islam, with its pervasive use of violence as a tool of conquest and subjugation, in its purest and most obvious form.

Inspired and equipped with this Janjaweed philosophy and ethos, the whole of core northern Nigeria was conquered by Sheik Usman Dan Fodio through the use of terror and by the power of the sword in the name of jihad. Millions of innocent non-Muslims were cut to pieces in the process.

Given the activities of Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen in our country today it appears that some in our shores are still interested in implementing that satanic agenda.

They wish to continue where Usman Dan Fodio stopped and they wish to "dip the Koran in the Atlantic ocean".

Their latest attempt is the introduction and proposal of what is known as the Cattle Grazing Act which will give the Fulani herdsmen the right to claim other peoples land all over the country and which will empower them by law to create their own settlements and communities in the territory of others.

Worse still under that law the government will be compelled to fund those settlements and put all that they need in terms of infrastructure in place for them. That is why our Minister of Agriculture is now talking about importing Brazilian grass for the Fulani herdsmen and their cattle.

This subtle and exceptionally brilliant attempt to infiltrate and conquer by guile and assimilation reminds me of the frightful laws that were put in place in the old wild western prairies of 19th century America.

Those laws gave the white settlers rights over the lands of the indigenous Red Indians and saw the Indians themselves subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing and herded into barren reservations that were not fit for human habitation.

It was in this way that the "wild west" was conquered and the once proud and noble war-like Indian tribes of the western prairies were subjugated and subdued.

Sadly our legislators in the National Assembly from the south and the Middle simply do not appreciate and cannot comprehend the serious implications of what they are doing by supporting this evil legislation and neither will the consequences of their naivety and folly be suffered by their constituents until it is far too late.

If that law is ever passed and implemented, two years from that time we will regret it deeply as a nation because it will result in nothing but conflict, chaos and strife between the Fulani herdsmen and settlers on the one hand and the local indigenous population on the other.

The tragedy that unfolded in Jos, Plateau state between the indigenous Christian Beroms and the settler Muslim Fulani for many years is a graphic example of what will be replicated all over the south and the Middle Belt between the Fulani and the various local indigenous populations if that law is ever passed and implemented.

As a matter of fact it will be far worse than anything that Jos ever saw. The Cattle Grazing Act will not result in enhancing unity and peace but instead it will result in division, bloodshed, carnage and chaos.

Whatever anyone may feel about this, one thing that I am very clear about is the following: the greatest threat to Muslims is radical Islam and the greatest threat to humanity is radical Islam armed with weapons of mass destruction.

The day that we refuse to acknowledge the dangers posed by this great evil in the name of political correctness or anything else is the day that we will be finished as a people.

The day we start to turn a blind eye to its existence is the day that the countdown to our collective end begins.

The answer is not to ignore it, pamper it, appease it or pretend that it does not exist. The answer is not to refuse to talk about it, refuse to write about it or refuse to publish it.

The answer is to sensitize the people about what is going on, join hands with others in the international community and fight it head on. Together we must crush this barbaric and evil scourge that has plagued and afflicted the entire world.

Permit me to end this contribution with a timely contribution from Mr. Emeka Umeagbalasi and Mrs. Obianuju Joy Igboeli, the Chairman and Secretary of the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law respectively. Last week they wrote the following.

‘’The Fulani Herdsmen and their military wing (Fulani terrorists) in Nigeria, fully backed by the Government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari have become the Sudanese Janjaweed and the Rwandan Banyamulenges, all supported and backed by the Governments of the two countries. It is our stern warning that genocide and widespread butcheries are steadily looming in Nigeria and the menace of Nigeria’s newest Janjaweed, condoned and aided by the Government of Buhari, has risen to an apogee. The Government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari must disarm and stop aiding and abetting the military wing of the Fulani Herdsmen before it is too late. Citizens traditionally and excusably take up arms or resort to dangerous self -help whenever they see or perceive Government to be incapable, unable, and unwilling to protect their security, safety and fundamental liberties from malicious and criminal State and non-State actors’’.

A word is enough for the wise.

Fayose, family members not barred from traveling to US, children's US visa valid till 2017 - Aide

Press statement from the Ekiti state house.

Press Release,

Fayose, family members not barred from traveling to US, children's US visa valid till 2017 - Aide

My attention has been drawn to the latest mischief from one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) propaganda organs, Sahara Reporters that the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose and his immediate family members were barred from traveling to the United States of America (USA) and I wish to state that this is another lie from the pit of hell.

Even though I am not unmindful of the fact that Sahara Reporters and its Jankara brand of journalism should not attract the attention of sane minds, I feel oblige to set the records straight.

Governor Fayose has travelled to the US only twice in his life and since he became governor, he has not had any reason to apply for US visa since he became governor in 2014, not to talk of being restricted from traveling to the country.

It is on record that during the governor's trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the court ordered that his international passport be deposited with the court. When the passport was released to him in 2009, he applied to the US embassy for the renewal of his visa and the embassy denied him of the renewal on the premise that he was still under trial.

Governor Fayose won the EFCC case in 2014 and not only that he was discharged and acquitted, cost was awarded against the EFCC.

The records in FRN Vs Mr. Ayodele Fayose, Charge. No. FHC,. L.. 179c, 2006 and the ruling discharging and acquiting the governor delivered in October 2014 by Hon. Justice Adamu Hobon are there for anyone to see.

Contrary to the lies from Sahara Reporters the governor's sons still have USA visa valid till March 2017 while that of his wife will expire this year. His wife and children travel to the USA regularly and they were in the USA during the last summer. Records of their trips to the US are there for anyone to verify.

It is shameful that Sahara Reporters can elevate its 'Boolekaja journalism' to the ridiculous level of dropping the name of the US President Barack Obama with the governor's application for visa renewal of 2009 (seven years ago).

It is even more shameful that Sahara Reporters opted to be silent over the fact that the election won by Governor Fayose was applauded by the US and the immediate past US ambassador to Nigeria visited the governor before and after he was elected.

However, I wish to let Sahara Reporters and its sponsors know that Governor Fayose is undeterred. The Jankara propaganda medium did more than this before the 2014 election and its sponsors lost woefully.

Therefore, like its previous efforts, this renewed effort at maligning Governor Fayose by Sahara Reporters, the APC's agent of falsehood is dead on arrival.

Oparanozie Desire of Super Falcons says African football is indeed in deep shambles

Nigeria's Super Falcons player Oparanozie Desire feels pity for the way the African football is going. She poured out her heart through an instagram post she shared.Read her lamentations below,

"I feel pity for @CAF_online and African football in general. It's such a shame that referees are being used to manipulate games. Who would've believed there's no caution for this injury let alone a sent off.....would you believe if i told you i was standing on my feet when this happened? Those were boot studs(soft) raised as high as my hight.....all the way to my forehead, leaving me with four(4) different cuts "and there's no form of caution whatsoever". Or am i to complain of the substance(juju) sprinkling on the pitch while game was on which the Moroccan ref LAMYAA LOURARHI did nothing about even after series of complaints. In this new age? African football is indeed in deep shambles. It's just so unfortunate i happen to be the escape goat this time, it's well. Thanks to you all for your support, and to as many that's called and sent in messages....i sincerely appreciate. Nothing is gonna stop us from qualifying, and when i say nothing....i mean NOTHING! #VivaSuperFalconsOfNigeria #GodPassThem"

Actress Chioma Akpotha writes open letter to Uche Jombo online haters

Actress Chioma Akpotha has come out to stand for his friend Uche Jombo who has been strolled by some online haters calling her fat.She advised them to use their precious time to be productive than strolling others online.Read her emotional message below,

"Hello EveryoneI'm a bit emotional now but I'd try hard to drive my point home.I took my last post down just like I did another one a few days back all because of the bashing you all come to drop on my page for Uche.Uche is this, Uche is that. "Ha! Is that Uche? I thought that was a panda" . "Uche take it easy o!, diabetes is around the corner" . "Uche, marriage has dragged you down." And it goes on and on and on.... Why if I may ask do you sit behind your laptops and your phones and throw demeaning words at your fellow human being? And to think most of these hateful comments come from women who I think are full of bitterness themselves because it is out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, in this case the hands type.

Who died and made you Uche's watchman?

Did Uche tell you she doesn't have a mirror in her house?Did she tell she doesn't know her dress size has changed?Did she by any chance tell you Kenny is complaining ?

Did she beg you for money to buy slimming tea and she pocketed the money and bought chocolates instead?

Did you give Uche money to hit the gym but instead she pocketed the money and chose to sit at home and watch movies with bowls of caramel coated popcorn and a jumbo size soda?😑

Do you know how many pregnancies she lost before #BabyMatthew came?

Did you know whilst we were on set for #WivesOnStrike Uche was over 4mths gone with a baby she eventually lost? And that was not the only one? Do you then begin to think of the process her body has been through all these years?

Do you all not just want to be human or you just feel better when you put the other down? #PullThemDownSyndrome. What if @uchejombo were to be your sister, aunt or some sort of relative, would you throw these kinds of comments her way? @okolimaureen @ckelzofficial ?

Let Uche be! She was never a #Darego She has never been a slim person.

Different strokes for different folks. The way lady A's body reacts to the process of child bearing is different from that of lady B.Life is too difficult as it is already why make it worse for the other person? To what gain?#LetUcheBe ! Stop wasting ur time typing hateful comments #BeProductive go see #WivesOnStrike 1❤️"

President Buhari sues for dialogue in resolving political crises in Burundi as he receives their President

Press statement from the state House Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday urged the people and government of Burundi to explore dialogue in resolving the current political differences in the country.

Receiving the former Burundian President, Mr. Pierre Buyoya, at the State House, President Buhari said Nigeria would continue to support peace processes in the continent through the African Union (AU), which had already intervened in Burundi.

The President said since President Pierre Nkurunziza rejected the proposal of a ‘‘stabilizing force from the AU, we can't impose it on him, but we will continue to opt for dialogue.’’
‘‘Nigeria has been playing a key role in the continent through the AU. We participated fully in ensuring a truce in Mali, and we want citizens to enjoy the impact of the truce, although the terrorists are not helping matters.
‘‘Nigeria is always committed to regional and continental peace, and we will continue to do our best’’ he said.
The President told the former President of Burundi, who is the High Representative of the AU Mission to Mali and the Sahel, that he remained hopeful that there would be an amicable solution to the situation in Burundi.

In his remarks, the former President commended Nigeria for the role it played in restoring peace to Mali, adding that the AU was working to promote security in the Sahel, particularly through fighting trans-border terrorism.
He also urged Nigeria to use its clout to work for peace in Burundi, warning that the "country is gradually inching towards a civil war."

Singer JMartins frowns at the current economic situation of Nigeria

The hardship hitting on Nigerians has spread to all sectors of the economy and is affecting almost everyone both PDP and APC.Renowned singer JMartins took to his instagram account to frown at the current economic situation the country is facing and is pleading with the government to give the masses the timeline to bring a solution to this ugly situation. His words,

"Ladies & gentlemen of the Federal Republic, complaining about the present situation of things in the country doesn't make one anti-Buhari/APC or pro-GEJ/PDP.

For all you partisan voltrons, not everyone is into your hypocracy filled pontifications of party ideology, cause in all honesty, you people have none.
Many of us just want light, fuel, friendly business clime, better health, agriculture & educational infrastructures, and a better country, generally.

I'm willing to give the government time to correct things, but the government has to give me a timeline, the wait can not be endless. Kindly give us a timetable. We have seen many that never came to fruition, but just give us schedule to work with please.

I've spent almost 9 times my planned budget for 3 months in 2 weeks, with no corresponding increase in income.
If I'm expected to act like its absolutely normal and keep mum for fear of being branded anti-Buhari, or a wailer. Hell NO!, I won't."
