The Indepent National Electorial Commission (INEC) has declared Mr.Mao Ohuabunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Abia North Senatorial district election held on Saturday 5th of March 2016 following an order by the court of appeal sitting in Owerri which ordered a re-run of the Abia North senatorial election.
Mao polled 26,009 votes to defeat his closest rival Orji Kalu of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) who polled 25,814 votes,Other contestants are Oji Nwachukwu of Labour Party who polled 147 votes,Boardex Onuoha of APGA who got 13,633 votes and Nwanna Okoro of the APC who polled just 976 votes.
Mao Ohuabunwa having polled the highest vote was declared winner and return elected.he will be going back to the Senate chambers to continue his service to his people.
